Here are my thoughts...

- Verify phone firmware, and plan upgrade before (probably preferred), or after the CUCM Upgrade...

- Make sure you verify licensing after you get your new Publisher built...

- I did something like this last January and built my new Publisher on a different IP Address. On cut-over night I re-homed the gateways, and Unity, changed the DHCP scope, and reset the phones (think we had to reload switches or clear DHCP to get them to re-home). Then I validated everything and started building the new subscriber. After the subscriber was built I contacted TAC to have them assist with a quick "health check" of the environment, so I was ready for production. I found it handy to have the old Publisher available for reference when things needed tweaking on Monday, but I did have to make sure phones weren't registered there anymore.

- There was a gotcha related Call Forward All CSS, and I don't remember the details, but they changed how that worked (I was upgrading from 4.1(3)), and I was fixing extensions on cut-over night which added some excitement.

I used RTMT for lots of verification...

Good Luck!

--Joe

On Wed, Oct 20, 2010 at 7:04 AM, Amanda Lalli-Cafini <alalli@iinet.net.au> wrote:
