They are both a softphone, and let you make phone calls. But CUPC doesn't have all phone features/functions compared to IP Communicator so it may be boil down to user preferences if they had been using IP communicator before. I prefer IP communicator over CUPC for phone calls. Don't really do much IM or other stuff with CUPC when I use it though. <div>
