Looking at ROI from a handset perspective is a limited viewpoint. There’s other things to consider—personnel that once were needed but now are not needed since telecom duties can be rolled into IT and lower cost of system upgrades with software virtualization are a couple of things I can think of. In my first VoIP deployment, as a customer, we reduced from an IT staff of four to three after going to IPT. The cost of upgrading our legacy Nortel was the same as ripping it out and installing a Cisco solution including a brand new network. So, it was a value for us. Of course, ROI is tricky anyway, and perhaps that’s a different thread </span><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:Wingdings;color:#1F497D'>J</span><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><div><p class=MsoNormal><b><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";color:gray'>James Buchanan</span></b><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";color:#7F7F7F'>|</span><b><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";color:gray'> UC Technology Manager </span></b><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";color:#7F7F7F'>|</span><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";color:gray'> <b>Presidio South </b></span><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";color:#7F7F7F'>|</span><b><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";color:gray'> Presidio Networked Solutions </span></b><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";color:gray'><o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><b><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";color:gray'>12 Cadillac Dr Ste 130 Brentwood, TN 37027 </span></b><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";color:#7F7F7F'>|</span><b><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";color:gray'> </span></b><b><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'><a href="mailto:jbuchanan@presidio.com"><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"'>jbuchanan@presidio.com</span></a></span></b><b><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";color:#548DD4'><o:p></o:p></span></b></p><p class=MsoNormal><b><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";color:gray'>D: 615-866-5729</span></b><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";color:gray'> </span><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";color:#7F7F7F'>|</span><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif";color:gray'> <b>F:615-866-5781</b> </span><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'><a href="http://www.presidio.com/" title="blocked::http://www.presidio.com/"><b><span style='font-size:7.5pt;font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif"'>www.presidio.com</span></b></a><o:p></o:p></span></p></div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><div><div style='border:none;border-top:solid #B5C4DF 1.0pt;padding:3.0pt 0in 0in 0in'><p class=MsoNormal><b><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"'>From:</span></b><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"'> cisco-voip-bounces@puck.nether.net [mailto:cisco-voip-bounces@puck.nether.net] <b>On Behalf Of </b>Matthew Loraditch<br><b>Sent:</b> Thursday, October 06, 2011 4:40 PM<br><b>To:</b> Wellnitz, Erick A.; Rick Gilliam; SouthEast Texas Telecom; 'Nate VanMaren'; 'Mark Pratt'; cisco-voip@puck.nether.net<br><b>Subject:</b> Re: [cisco-voip] Phones-Life expectancy<o:p></o:p></span></p></div></div><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>I have to agree with Erick on lifespan, I frankly don’t expect a 12 year no maintenance required lifespan from anything electronic.
