If your company has not signed off on going to Unified Communications everywhere then I would put a 3945 router running CME and Unity Express at the pilot location. Calls can be routed between the Avaya and Cisco system fairly easily. This gives you a feel for Cisco UC without diving in head first. The advantage of this way is that if you like the system and decide to move forward with Cisco UC you didn’t lose anything because this router can now be used for SRST once you get the full system. You also minimize your investment if your company decides not to pursue Cisco UC.
