It's worth noting that overlap sending is a specific way of receiving digits over ISDN. An intial setup is sent and then additional digits are sent over time in other messages to complete the dialing. An overlapping dial plan is still fine. If you're doing SIP in Germany my first guess is that they will not be doing overlap sending over SIP simply because there's limited support for it in most SIP software. If you have to convert an ISDN line to SIP, then it is definitely a concern if you're currently doing overlap sending.
Hi,

if you've got access to Cisco Live 365 (https://www.ciscolive365.com) -
view the advanced dialplan design session by Johannes Krohn - very
informative - and somewhere in the middle of the video he mentions, that
overlap sending is not supported on SIP trunks -neither CUCM nor CUBE. It
is something he wants on the roadmap, but it is definitely not in CUCM
9.0...
thanks for the pointer and the confirmation. I will check out the session. Looks quite interesting anyway ;)
This is called overlap sending in Cisco world and should be supported as
far as I know.

apparantly this is not supported on SIP trunks as I cannot find any
details on how to configure overlap sending on sip.

It does work on ISDN and there is support for SCCP and even SIP phones
registering to a CME router. H323 shoud also work.

I just can't find any support for overlap sending with SIP going out of
CUBE.

I would be interested on confirming this and hearing about any roadmaps
to add overlap sending to sip trunks.

As well, overlapping dial plans are supported and shouldn't
cause problems in standard CUBE scenarios, minus some potential for call
looping if not properly configured. I would use 'huntstop' on the last
possible dial peer for any given situation to make sure it doesn't hunt
down the wrong path potentially.
Hi,

not sure if my google foo is broken but I cannot find any information
on
sip overlap dialing (rfc3578) support on cisco CUBE.

I would like to retain the user experience of instant dialing when
migrating from isdn to sip trunks. We have wildly varying dial plans
in germany with no way to guess the length of the number so overlap
dialing is the only way to stop users complaining about the interdigit
delay.

Greetings
