Typically these things happen when a critical bug is found after the sign-off has happened for release of that version. If it were UCM the result would have been a 10.5(1a).
<div class="">I could only find one defect fix that went into the -9 build of IM&P 10.5.1 (CSCuo57285) and since it’s a sev2 bug that’s probably what did it.</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">The release notes on <a href="http://cisco.com" class="">cisco.com</a> cite 10000-9 so I would go with that one as the official release. You ended up with the 10000-8 build because somebody did you a favor and sent it to you OR because it was
posted briefly but pulled and replaced with the 10000-9 build and you got an order through before build 8 was yanked.</div>

<div class="">1) I already obtained a Bootable ISO for IM&P 10.5.1.10000-9 so I'm good to go. Don't worry about that.</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">2) This is a post about: What the heck happened to version 10.5.1.10000-8? Typically, when version numbers change, it's for one reason, patching. Well, if both 10.5.1.10000-8 and 10.5.1.10000-9 are base 10.5(1) versions, where is the patching
in that? I'm trying to further my understand of Cisco's version numbering scheme, as one gripe I have out of many, is trying to keep the two formats straight. E.g., 10.5(1)SU1 is 10.5.1.11900-3 (or something like that).</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">Also, I know this list is a mix of Cisco partners and customers, so keep in mind that I am speaking from a partner's point of view, where I go into a lot of different environments and this one just happened to be one where an IM&P node was built
to 10.5.1.10000-9 but the ISO in the datastore was 10.5.1.10000-8. So, I was scratching my head, because it didn't make any sense how that ended up like that, and I was tasked with installing additional IM&P nodes.</div>

<div dir="ltr" class="">That makes sense, for sure. Only that the installed version is -9 and my ISO is -8. So, it's the reverse of what I need. If only we could downgrade during an install. ;) Just kidding.
<div class=""><br class="">

<div class="">Again, my question is: why the two different base versions and does anyone know what happened to -8?</div>

<div class="">If I recall correctly, you can apply a patch during installs. This should allow you to add a subscriber to a cluster with a different bootable ISO but the current patch level file available. </div>

<div class="">I've done this on more than one occasion with CallManager. </div>

<div class="">That being said, imp could be different. </div>

<div class="">In addition I think there was a bug with early v9 files that wouldn't allow an install with upgrade so I was not able to test this out. I had to get a bootable ISO cut for me. <br class="">
