FWIW: several other vendors have RPS too. 

Most Dell switches (OEM'd from different sources for each product
line) have an RPS option.  Their RPS are much simpler than Cisco,
which in this setup usually means better.  Ie. the RPS box is 4
independant power supplies in one box. No worrying about if you are
powering too many (ie. 3 of 6 is it?). The switch takes power either
way, and doesn't need a reboot to bring it back on its primary power
(although Cisco has fixed that lately?)

Juniper lowest end (EX2200) have an RPS port, although no unit yet. 
Rumored to be out sometime in the next few quarters. The next step
up (EX3200) have dual power supply options and aren't too terribly
pricey, especially for the feature set. But still more than $1k.
