Thanks for your reply.
Does anyone know what exactly "multiple spanning tree support" from the
summit 1's datasheet means?
What I'd need is one spanning tree instance per vlan so that one customer
can not disturb another's network.

Yes should work without probs. What I have experienced with an Copper GBIC
in an Alpine module is, that the link was always reported up, even without
cable connected :(( This might have been a prob of the GBIC I used?
