 Hello Michael,

Extreme is selling 2 differents kind of switches based on 2 main ASICs, all are L2/L3
switches.

The Inferno Asic that are installed on the "i" switches (Summit with an "i" and the
modular switches :Alpine and BlackDiamond) and are the switch with the most features.
Then you have the "basic" switches named Summit (Summirt 24e3, Summit 200, Summit 400)
too that are L3 switches too.

Hope it helps, Fabian.

Hello.

I am new to the Extreme line of networking hardware and would appreciate any
recommendations on what pieces of equipment I can purchase that would give me a good
foundation on understanding Extreme hardware.

I am very familiar with Cisco equipment, so I'm interested in learning the CLI,
feature syntax (e.g., ACL implicit denies at the end), switching path quirks, etc (as
opposed to learning IP basics).

Thank you in advance for your help.

-michael
