Both do take the same cards, except for the management modules. I
recall that you can't run a BigIron M3 in the NetIron. The NetIron has
a faster processor and more memory, which was intended to handle more
BGP peers.
BigIron
Active management module:
400 MHz Power PC processor 740 (version 8/8202) 66 MHz bus
512 KB boot flash memory
8192 KB code flash memory
256 KB SRAM
128 MB DRAM
NetIron
Active management module:
466 MHz Power PC processor 750 (version 8/8300) 66 MHz bus
512 KB boot flash memory
8192 KB code flash memory
256 KB SRAM
512 MB DRAM

Subject: [f-nsp] BigIron/NetIron?
Hi folks
Just a couple of silly questions.
Does anyone know what the differences are between the BigIron 4000/8000
and NetIron 400/800 series? I seem to recall reading somewhere that they
both take the same cards?
And what is the difference between the M4R4G and the BxGMR4?
Only that one has 4 GBIC ports and the other has 8 mini GBIC, or am I
missing something else?
Any help that anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
Best Regards,
Glenn Tan
