To answer your question:
No, you can not use MLX cards in an XMR chassis, nor can you use XMR cards in an MLX chassis.
With the MLXe chassis and the use of X-Blades you can convert an MLX Blade (-X-ML) into an XMR Blade (-X) through the use of the "X" scalability license.
So even when you use an MLXe, the blade types have to match the management type.
There are some cards that that work with both management blades without the need for the license upgrade.
The 8x10G-X and the 100G cards work together with both management blades.
