Some questions:

1. Are you sure you're using a L3 or L2+ image? What does 'sh version'
output? Since you can configure ve's you probably are but it's worth
checking.

2. What's the output of 'sh ip route'?

3. What's the output of 'sh ip'?

4. Presumably you have no access-list's attached to the interfaces?
