That's correct, Gen1 cards like the NI-XMR-10Gx4 or the NI-XMR-1Gx20-SFP are not supported beyond the 5600 firmware train. Gen1.1 cards like the BR-MLX-10Gx4-X or the BR-MLX-1GFX24-X and newer should upgrade past the 5600 firmware train just fine.<br>
<br>
Since nowadays none of the aforementioned cards can hold a full IPv4 -and- IPv6 DFZ table at the same time it should be dirt cheap to pick up some refurbished cards from your vendor of choice to upgrade to the firmware you want. Realistically though, you are
probably able to earn back your investment for a newer 1RU sized device on power consumption savings alone..<br>
