Hi HeathKiters,

Picked up a non-working SB-104A today, with partial copy of manual.
Intention is to make air-worthy and use.
Questions:
  1) According to Chuck Penson's book, one determines if it is an
original '104, an upgrade, or an A model by blue-and-while stickers.
Mine has two on the LMO, one says Model SB-104 s/n 00450, the other
has Model 830-24 s/n 00238. Front panel has the SB-104A strip.
I am assuming since there is no A suffix on the label it is the
older model and second label refers to only the LMO. The front panel
strip would indicate upgraded.
 2) Owner advised rig was 'dead', the 11-volt regulator had been
repaired but smoked after a few days of operation. He used only as
receiver while learning Morse. An elmer had given rig to him and it
had apparently transmitted previously. Can someone provide me some
guidance on troubleshooting/repairing? Is this a common problem with
the '104?

Thanks,
