In a recent message, someone asked about the 5V supply line in the
SB-104. My SB-104A had a blown MFC6030 regulator IC also, and they
are indeed hard to find (however, try Clem-Neff Enterprises,
717-595-0647). I replaced the 6030 and its pass transistor Q1
with a 7805 regulator. I used a 7805 in the flat TO-3 case, so it
fit right in the Q1 socket on the chassis with some minor rewiring.
The rewiring is pretty simple, but if you send me an SASE I can send you
the 3 pp it takes to describe it. I measured current draw on this line
at about 1.3 amp during receive. I didn't put a heat sink on the
7805 but it wouldn't be a bad idea.
