my "Oldie-newbie" request

Many thanks to all who responded to my pathetic whine for commonly accepted
info here on the list  :)      I came up with several URLs, a couple of
former Alaskans, and a 100% hit on Chuck's book as "the book to have".
Even Chuck himself modestly did not tout himself as the author when he
gently suggested it as a good place to start.  I'm really impressed with
the selflessness of the hams in this group -- where it would be so easy to
send a neophyte like me away with a few smartassed replies, every single
post I got was helpful.
