Apache info

First, thanks to all who sent paint info - will come in handy.

Now I need some other info...   I've shoveled out 10 or 20 years worth of grime
from the topside. Removed and cleaned the front panel (It cleaned up great).
It's been 25 years since my last Apache...  The VFO on this one is not very
smooth.
By that I mean I can 'feel' the gearing - sort of a notchy feel.  Is this
normal? Or
should it be smoother?

I don't want to go ripping the gear train all apart if this is normal.
