Hi, Gerry!
First of all, the SB-310 is not general coverage. It is intended
to be an SWL version, based on the excellant design of the Ham
Band SB-300 (or SB-301). While there are maybe 3 ham bands on the
receiver, most of the bands are those for short-wave broadcast
stations. They are not continuous!
Next, in theory the SB-310 could interface with an SB-40x trans-
mitter. But why do it?? Seems to me, this could be dangerous.
What if you were listening to the Voice of America or HCJB,
and "just happened" to key the transmitter. You'd be listening
to an SWL freq. and transmitting on a ham frequency--but, you
would not know if you were interfering with someone else or not.
Why tie the SB-310 into your Ham station and have only some
3 ham bands you can listen to? Allow this thing to be independent
and give the SB-40x transmitter a complementing receiver!
