HW-8 replacement PA.

I'm thinking of replacing the standard PA transistor in my HW-8 and
replacing it with an alternative type to give a little more power. My (1st
edition!) of the HW-8 Handbook mentions this procedure once but the type of
transistor is totally unknown to me (unfortunately, I don't have the book
with me now at work but I seem to recall it was an ECG? type). Has anyone
done this mod using a modern and easily available device?

I'm interested in hearing about any mods for the HW-8. I'm surprised that
there are so very few HW-8 mods easily available on the internet. Perhaps
they could be posted on a web site somewhere?
