HI Mark. I don't remember which publication I read this in a few years ago,
but the -A version is better for VHF operation due to interelectrode
capacitances. I've proven this out in my Heathkit SB-500 2 meter
transverter. It uses a pair of 6146's in the PA. I've tried the -A, -B, and
-W's. The only tubes that would neutralize properly were the -A's. I tried
several pairs of the -B's and -W's, and both of my pairs of -A's were just
fine. The other's were a bear to neutralize and never did work quite right.
