HW-7 sidetone

Hello Fellow QRPer's
     Just a question about the sidetone on a recently purchased HW-7.
It has a real bad chirp in the sidetone Oscillator. Is this the nature of
the beast or what should I be looking for??
Any help would be appreciated.
