DR-1 Decade Resistance Kit. Uses 20 1% resistors providing a choice
of 1 to 99,999-ohms in 1-ohm steps. Ceramic wafer switches,
silver-plated contact, positive detent action. Polished birch cabinet.
4 lbs. 1953: $19.50.
DC-1 Decade Condenser Kit. Features silver mica 1% condensers.
Capacity values arranged in 3 decades from 100 Pf to 0.111 mfd. in steps
of 100 Pf. Ceramic wafer switches with silver-plated contacts. 4 lbs.
1953: $16.50.
RS-1 Resistance Substitution Box. Individual switch selection of
any one of 36 RTMA 1-watt, 10% standard v alue resistors, ranging from
15-ohms to 10-megohms. 2 lbs. 1953: $5.50.
CS-1 Condenser Substitution Box. 18 RETMA standard values selected
by rotary switch. 0.00001 mfd to 0.22 mfd. All rated 400-v minimum.
Caps are either silver mica or plastic molded. 2 lbs. 1957: $5.50.
#336 30-kv DC Probe Kit. A precision multiplier resistor mounted
inside the two-color plastic probe body provides multiplication factor
of 100 on the DC ranges of the Heath 11-megohm VTVM. 2 lbs. 1953:
$4.50.
#338-B Peak-to-Peak Probe. Read p-p on the Heath 11-megohm VTVM.
Measures over frequency range of 5 Hz to 5 mHz. Polished aluminum
housing with two-color poly probe ends. 2 lbs. 1953: $5.50.
#309-B RF Probe. Use with 11-megohm VTVM for RF measurements up to
250 mHz, plus or minus 10%. Polished aluminum housing probe body with
two-color poly probe ends and low-capacity lead. 2 lbs. 1953: $3.50.
GD-1B Grid Dip Meter. Five pre-wound coils cover 2-250 mHz.
Sensitivity control. Usable as oscillator or absorption wavemeter.
Extra low-frequency coils available. 4 lbs. 1954: $19.50.
AW-1 Audio Wattmeter. Measure output power levels directly. Flat
from 10 Hz to 250 kHz. Full scale ranges: 5-mw, 50-mw, 500-mw, 5-w and
50-w. Db calibration from minus 10 db to plus 48 db. Non-inductive
built-in load resistors with impedances of 4, 8, 16 and 600-ohms. Meter
bridge uses four germanium diodes. 6 lbs. 1954: $29.50.
IB-2 Impedance Bridge. Built-in 1-kHz generator for AC
measurements. Choice of Wheatstone, Maxwell, Hay or capacitance
comparison bridges for measuring capacitance, resistance, inductance,
dissipation factor and storage factor. 1/2% resistors. 15 lbs. 1953:
$59.50.
QM-1 Q-meter. Oscillator supplies RF from 150 kHz to 18 mHz. Reads
Q directly on calibrated meter. Measures Q of condensers, RF resistance
and distributed capacity of coils. Calibrate capacitor has range of
40Pf to 450Pf with vernier plus or minus3Pf. All measurements made at
operating frequency. 14 lbs. 1953: $44.50.
BG-1 Bar Generator. Small, easy to use. Supplies horizontal or
vertical bars for TV linearity adjustments. Output cable couples to TV
antenna terminals. 6 lbs. 1953: $14.50.
#255 TV Picture Tube Test Adaptor. Used with Heath Tube Checker.
Has 12-pin TV tube socket, four feet of cable, octal socket connector
and data sheet. 1 lbs. 1955: $4.50.
VT-1 Vibrator Tester Kit. Tests car radio vibrators for proper
starting and indicates the quality of the output on a large "GOOD-BAD"
scale. Checks both interruptor and self-rectifier type4s in five
different sockets. Operates from any batter eliminator delivering
variable voltage from 4 to 6-v DC at 4-amps. Ideal companion for
Battery Eliminator Model # BE-4. 6 lbs. 1956: $14.50.
That concludes the Miscellaneous Test Gear with model
numbers. Right after WWII, when Heath first got into the test gear
field, a good bit of stuff was made withouot model numbers. Here is
what I have on these items:
MISCELLANEOUS TEST GEAR WITH NO MODEL NUMBERS MADE FROM
1948-1950
1. Sine and Square Wave Generator. Matching unit for the also
un-numbered Heath scope. "For advanced service technique in TV and FM
servicing." Sine or square wave 20-20,000 Hz. Excellent waveform. Low
distortion. Gray crackle cabinet. Beautiful 2-color calibrated panel.
5 tubes. 110-v power transformer. 1% calibrating resistors. Shipping
weight not given. 1948 price: $34.50.
2. The new 5" scope kit. Frequency compensated vertical and horizontal
amps. Beautiful 2-color panel. Sweep circuit supplying 15-30,000 Hz.
All controls on front panel. Ideal for TV and radio trouble-shooting.
Convenient portable size...weighs only (!) 26 pounds. Cabinet 8 1/2" X
13" X 17" (this is portable? How concepts have changed in 40 years!)
Provision for external sync. Front panel test voltage post. Deflection
sensitivity 0.65-v/inch full gain. Frequency response: Plus or minus
20% from 50 Hz to 50 kHz. Input impedance 1-megohm and 50Pf. Tubes:
2-6SJ7, 2-5Y3, 1-884, 1-5BP1. Power supply delivers 1100-v negative,
350-v positive, making 1450-v available for the CRT. All oil-filled
caps. Weight not given. 1948 price: $39.50.
3. Signal Generator. Completely isolated from power line. Use with
any type receiver. Supplies fundamental frequencies from 150 Hz to 34
mHz in five bands, with useful harmonics lto over 100 mHz. 400 Hz audio
frequency modulation available separately for audio testing. Supplies
either pure RF or modulated signal. Highly accurate calibration with
callibration adjustment for exact frequency. Approximately 30%
modulation. Tubes: 6SN7 oscillator and AF amp., 6X5 rectifier. 7
lbs. 1948: $19.50. (NOTE: Looks very much like the later SG-6, 7, 8
models._
4. VTVM. 500 microampere meter, transformer power supply, 1%
glass-enclosed divider resistorsm ceramic selector switches. 11-megohm
input resistance, linear AC and DC scales, electronic AC reading RMS.
Tubes: 6SN7 balanced bridge, 6H6 as AC rectifier, 6X5 power supply
rectifier. Includes means of calibrating without standards. X1, X100,
X1000, X10K, X1meg., giving ranges from 0.1-ohm to 1000-meg. 8 lbs.
1948: $24.50.
5. Tube Checker. Measures each element individually. Gear-drive roll
chart. Lever switching. Complete range of filament voltages.
Shatterproof full view meter. Size 11" X 14" X 4". Checks new 9-pin
miniatures. Mallory switches. Centralab controls. Quality wood
cabinet. Complete set of sockets for all tube types and blanks for
future types. Brass gears on roll chart. Short/open check. 15 lbs.
1949: $29.50.
6. Battery Eliminator. Bench 6-v power supply kit for all auto radio
testing. 5 to 7.5-v @ 10 A. continuous, or up to 15 A. intermittent.
Well-filtered, rugged power supply uses heavy duty selenium rectifier,
choke input filter and 4000-mfd electrolytic. 0-15-v meter. Output
variable in 8 steps. Voltage can be lowered to find sticky vibrators or
stepped up to equivalent of generator overload. 18 lbs. 1949: $22.50.
7. Signal Tracer and Universal Test Speaker. Hi-quality tracer follow
signal from antenna to speaker, locates intermittent and defective parts
quickly. Test speaker has assortment of switching ranges to match
push-pull or single output impedances. Also tests mikes, fono pickups,
PA systems, etc. 8 lbs. 1949: $19.50.
8. Oscilloscope. Appears to be an improved version of the unnumbered
1948 scope previously described. Sensitivity: 0.06-v RMS/inch
deflection. Push-pull H and V amps. Range to 2.5 mHz. Sweep range 15
Hz to 70 kHz. TV-type multivibrator sweep generator. Magnetic alloy
CRT shield. Weight not given. 1950: $39.50.
9. 05 Conversion Kit for other models of Heath Scopes. For all 03 and
04 scopes. Changes them to push-pull V & H amp types. Does not change
to sweep generator. Includes new chassis, tubes, etc. 10 lbs. 1950:
$12.50.
10. Handitester Kit. VOM. Bakelite case. AC/DC to 5-KV. 1%
precision ceramic resistors. Thumb-type adjustment control.
400-microamp meter. Bradley AC rectifier. Multiplying type ohms
ranges: 0-10, 30, 300, 1000, 5000-v. 3" meter. Pocket size. MA
ranges: 10-ma and 100-ma. Banana jacks for probes. Linear AC scales.
2 lbs. 1950: $13.50.
This is all the test gear on which I have info. Later today or
tomorrow, I will send over a last bonus list, with all the hi-fi
