Steve,

The non-GE "B" tubes had a strange inter-electrode capacitance value that
caused them to be very unstable in many of the Heath tube final tcvrs.
If I remember correctly, there was also a big difference in gain between
individual tubes in some brands, which further hindered neutralizing
them.  For that reason, we (Heath) recommended only the 6146 and 6146A
tubes be installed.
