vf-1 vfo/dx-100 (40 meters???)

i have a vf-1 vfo and there are two 40 meter
positions on the band select and two places on the
dial for 40 meters. why two?? and which one
should you use.

the dx-100 also has two locations on the vfo
dial for 40 meters, which one and what is the difference
and why two ???
