SB-series Tuning Mechanisms?

Have only been on the Greenie lists for a couple weeks; but so far, I've
yet to see any mention of the #1 problem I always had with my SB-series
radios: that squeegy dial-pulley thingy. Is that because somebody came up
with some great replacement long ago which everyone has now except me; or
is it because nobody else mistreats their dials like I do, and so they
don't need a new one every couple of years? ;*)
