Cloudy rotary and slide rule dials

Gene, that's a NEW one on me! The only thing even CLOSE in my experience
was a 1940 RCA AR-77 that I have---it had / has a clear plastic window
protecting the dial assemblies: this clear plastic turned cloudy / yellow /
and all distorted over the intervening years. I simply replaced it with new
material...

In your case, however, such a solution is out of the question. Have you
tried washing the material in lukewarm water, with a mild detergent...?
Hopefully, it's nothing more serious than a bad case of "...chain smoker's
residue"---the BANE of radio restorers everywhere! (but readily curable,
per the above).

Keep us posted! Tnx & 73, de Eddy VE3CUI - VE3XZ
