HW-101 - Putting it on Three Megs!

Hi Greenies!

Found the following information while cleaning up my 'un-organized'
mess:

A rather simple modification, involving a change of the heterodyne
crystal, realignment of coils and addition of a padder capacitor to the
"final tank circuit", has enabled operation of the HW-101 on 3 MHZ
frequencies.
A crystal purchased from the International Crystal Co. with a frequency
of 11,895 MHZ replaces the standard 12.395 MHZ crystal, giving coverage
of 3.0 to 3.5 MHZ rather than the standard 3.5 to 4.0 MHZ. A run through
the alignment procedure in the standard instruction book for the HW-101
gave good reception and plenty of RF drive, but the final take circuit
would not resonate.

believe resides in AL]].
