Hi Fred,

The CR-1 was my first radio (at age 10)! I spent a lot of
hours on that primitive little receiver. Add *lots* of
antenna wire -- any long wire is fine. A decent earth
ground (cold water pipe connection) helps. Could be
there's some corrosion, rust, dead bugs, etc ... inside
the innards -- you might want to check all the solder
joints. With a 400 foot long wire, I could hear three or
four AM broadcast stations during the day and sometimes
pull in some "DX" from across the US at nite. A fun
Internet site for crystal folks is The Xtal Set Society at
URL: http://www.midnightscience.com/   they have all sorts
of books, kits, air variable caps, etc. Nice people !

I need the manual for the heath crystal set CR-1 I want to
know how to
tune it up. right now it just gets one station and it
should do better.
