SB-310/300/301's on other bands....

Here's the info, straight from the Radio Free Europe engineers, for
putting said radios on other non-standard bands...

xtal freq= freq of desired band startpoint minus 8.895 (in Mhz)
Example...desired range is 19.005--19.505mhz...xtal is 27.900.
(27.9-8.895=19.005)

Tune up...
1)Insert correct xtal in socket--use a band nearest to the desired freq.
2)Connect a VTVM, set on minus DC volts (5 or 15v scale) to test point A
on the RF circuit board--towards the front of the board.
3)Peak the appropriate Hetrodyne oscillator coil (should be about -5dc)
4)Tune the RF amp coil to max noise or signal (if one is tuned in)
5)Tune the ANT coil similarly...

That's it. I haven't checked to see if the three coils in question are
different between the 310' and the 300/301'---they possibly are, but
this may not make a lot of difference...

I have tried these instructions for one out of band coil in my 310' and
it seemed to work well. I have not tried this for my 301', but since
the radios are awfully close, it should work. These instructions, once
again, were from a typed memo that was placed in the "alignment" section
of my 310' manual, from Radio Free Europe engineers...
Supposedly, RFE had a bunch of 310's--I wonder where they are
now?
