Hello Heatherns: Have HW100 that was working when shelved about 12 years
ago. It is now dirty with dust and the crud that the air places in radios
that set up.
Never been owned by a smoker. I need to clean the chassis(circuit boards)
of the dust and crud. I don't want to use anything to damage boards or
parts, especially coils and transformers. I am going to use compressed air
which I have in my shop. Dont want to remove any p.c. board markings. Over
the years, the HW100 has been robbed of tubes and the O rings have rotted
and fallen off. I will clean, retube, and replace the O rings first. Then
hook up to HP23 and give smoke test. If all the smoke hasn't already leaked
out, maybe I can get some smoke out of it myself. I don't usually have
trouble getting gear to smoke. The funny thing is that when all the smoke
is gone, the doggone things dont play anymore......wonder why that is??
Anyone want to make suggestions for cleaning, replacing components that age
on the shelf from not being turned on for years etc. please email me
DIRECT. Thanks in advance. 73, John, K5PGW
