Cleaning products.

Hello all,

    There were a couple of you that wanted to know what was recommended
as a good cleaning product for the front panel on my SB-200.  I had a
yellowish residue of what appeared to be cigarette tar.  I will list
what was suggested to use on it.  409 all purpose cleaner tops the list.
Dishwashing detergent ;  toothpaste ;  Murphy oil soap ;  Fantastic
spray cleaner ;  Windex window cleaner ;  Westleys Bleach White
whitewall tire cleaner ; (use with caution)  WD 40 lubricant  and White
lanolin hand cleaner (Goop brand) were the others.  There were two
suggestions of putting the panel in the Dishwasher and stop it before
the dry cycle begins,  one said to use a very small amount of regular
dish detergent as opposed to dishwashing machine detergent. Another
suggested to spray a little WD 40 after cleaning for a bright sheen.

I managed to get just about all of the residue off by using a
combination of these. The Goop,  the 409 and the Murphy oil seemed to
work the best,  I did not try the dishwashing machine approach this
time. I am going to let it sit for a couple of days and give it another
go around to see if it will clean up some more. I  think that they may
all prove effective depending on how you use them.  The lettering and
paint is still intact so I guess I was lucky.............  this time !
Please don't take my word for it and think they are all safe, use your
own judgment and experiment a bit.  Most of you probably have already
used some or all of these.  I'm just passing on what was offered as
suggestions to me and posting it to share it with all.  73.
