HD-10 help needed.

I recently inherited an HD-10 keyer with a problem: quite often there is
a delay of anywhere from a split-second to several seconds between the
time the "dah" microswitch is closed and the "dah" is actually emitted.
Would anyone out there have any thoughts on this?
