AT-1 restoration?

Any AT-1 fans out there?
I have an AT-1 that I have not fired up in over 30 yrs. I'm not sure why I
have dragged it around, except things like it tend to stick. This one was
a disaster when I got it. It had been used in a college physics lab and
looked it. I don't even have a complete manual, just a few odd pages and
the schematic. (Hey, what more do I want?) It has several extra empty
holes on the front panel (mostly empty except for a toggle switch and a
varable capacitor.) I did use it once, I put it on the air and had a qso
on 15(?) from CT to FL. I recall that I had wires hanging out of it when I
did that.
Well, now I am considering rebuilding it. Some of the wiring inside looks
poorly done, so it would be wise to do some rewiring. Capacitors may
(surely) require replacement. It will never look pretty with all those
holes. I have no idea how much is salvageable.
Any AT-1 fans out there?
