dx-40 power supply

does anyone know of a mod to the dx-40 power supply??
i understand the regulation is poor and was told there is a mod to fix
the problem but can't remember where to find it or who told me
i think this why the old beast chirps...
any other mod's for the dx-40 would be appreciated
