Hi Steve:  That was my listing of QST mods for Heath stuff that you
saw.  I have the issue in question.  The mod is simple.  It's in the
Hints and Kinks pages in that issue.  I can't send you the diagram on
the computer, but here's how it's done:


On the Apache, shift the yellow wire from terminal C1-2 to CJ-1.  See
Pictorial 22, page 67 of the Apache instruction book.

On the DX-100, see page 34, Pictorial 7 of the DX-100 instruction book
and then:  Mount an insulated terminal on the spade bolt that holds the
VFO bracket next to the 500,000-ohm clamp-circuit pot.

Remove the violet wire and the 5.4-ohm resistor from terminal 3 of the
500,000-ohm clamp-circuit pot.

Reconnect these leads to the terminal you just installed. Hook up the
empty pot terminal (#3) to the other side of the 5.4-ohm meter shunt
(the side opposite from which it was originally connected).

This mod was scontributed by Harold Jensen, W1LUW.

If you need a diagram of the fix, I'll have to send it snail mail.  If
you need the manual and pictorials, I don't have those, but there are a
great many others on the reflector who do.

Hope you get it working OK.
