Greetings all you hollowstate aficiandos!
I've seen 6146's glow a nice gentle bluish glow (as Multivolt points out) when the glass
would floresce or the tube was gassy. The glow of a gassy tube would happen primarily
and visibly inside the tube around the elements and radiate outward. Sometimes, the
envelope of the tube would have a nice gentle bluish (almost moving towards the
purplish) color as the glass would flouresce. Couldn't see it too well in the bright
lights had to turn most of em off or down low to see it. The florescence would usually
occur under very high loading of the 6146.
The best glow I've ever seen is from 4004 rectifiers under full load.. they glow a very
very bright purplish blue and remind one of an old Boris Karloff movie, when viewed in
the dark.
