Hmmm, I say,

On a machine a couple years ago we had a problem with one of the
components. We checked and rechecked and component "A" was fine, however it
still did not operate properly. It turns out it was another component "B"
down stream that was fried and was sending back a form of feedback that was
screwing up component "A". The machine still operated (for the most part)
but we didn't know component "B" was bad till component "A" started acting
up and we traced it out. My question is this, could something down stream
of the relay be sending back some feedback and "confusing" the realy???
Just a long shot....

Aaron
