I agree.  On both HF and VHF, I'v noticed that the proportion of good
operators to bad ones has little relationship to license class.  Just
listen to 75m for proof.  Here in Kalamazoo, we have our share of
technicians who perfectly fit the descriptions which some have offered on
this list.  On the other hand, we have many more technicians who have a
positive effect on this hobby.  On Skywarn nets and public service
events, the majority of operators are technicians.  Most of my QSL cards
for 6m and 10m are from hams with Technician (or tech+) class callsigns.

Welcome to the hobby.  Don't let anyone tell you that you are less of a
person because that you can't send and receive CW at 35WPM or build a
transceiver blindfolded.  You're new.  The skills you don't have will
come with time.  For now, use and enjoy the privileges your new license
has given you.
