Actually, the main differences were in the VFO drive mechanics. The
HW-100 used a "Harmonic" drive, which consisted of a concentric plastic
spline being driven by the main tuning dial. It offered about a 12:1
tuning ratio for the tuning cap. The HW-101 used the "Jackson"
mechanical vernier drives, two in series at 6:1 each, for a 36:1 ratio.
Made it much easier to tune. There were other less noticeable mods as
well, but the drive was the major change.
