About the two 6146's in the DX60, assuming you COULD get enough RF
drive, and assuming you did rework the Pi-network for the lower plate
impedance of two tubes in parallel, you still would need to replace the
power transformer(and maybe the diodes,as well!) because you would need
twice the current capability from the HV supply. It's unllikely that the
original would be up to a 100% increase in current draw. And after all
that, the best you would do in terms of signal gain is a lousy 3 dB,
which the guy on the other end would in all likelihood never notice. 90
watts is plenty of power, just 10 watts short of most of today's sand
state rigs.
