Heath Co./Heath manuals

Yep...I agree with you...I just poosted something to that effect...

If one buys a non-working Heathkit at a hamfest, one has no way of knowing if it
EVER worked. It may never have been assembled properly. I seem to recall that at
Heath, this fact was inherent in a Heath tech's troubleshooting approach. One
had to be familiar with the circuit and rely alot on visual examination. This
familiarity can only come from a few sources...working on a boatload of the same
model, having effective service documentation, or having the assembly manual.
Everyone knows how excellent these manuals were...why do portions of them
suddenly become ineffective or obsolete.

But I've lost track of why I am defending the assembly portionm of the manual.
Perhaps it's due to Heath not including those pages in manuals duplications, at
least as they wer(n't) a few years ago. Not sure now.
