     Having been a Heath employee for 17 years working in the order and
     credit areas for a few years it was not unknown that many "famous" or
     certainly well known individuals purchased Heathkits. Whether or not
     they actually built them, I wouldn't know, but Barry Goldwater was
     certainly one who did order lots of kits.  Not only ham kits but
     audio, test and a few TV's.  The audio and TV's I know because they
     actually came across my desk.  I also remember the first and only time
     that I ever met him was when he came once to the plant in St. Joseph
     (don't really remember the year).  He may have come more than once but
     he certainly did show up one day.  I met him as I was exiting the
     cafeteria.  Almost bumped into him.  He was being escorted by our
     president at the time.  Though he did not come through our information
     services area where I was working at that time he did spend all day at
     the plant and spent two days in St. Joseph.  His main concentration
     was in the engineering area.  Certainly a highlight of my work
     experiences.
