Hello:
I have a dusty SB-230 that was working until someone left his rig on ssb/vox and went upstairs and turned on the stereo. A couple hours later he realized he had been broadcasting some very poor fidelity music, and the cathode circuitry was burnt to a crisp.
He rebuilt it most of the way, and I got it in trade.
It needs the following: meter switch, plate cap collar
Additional goodies it has beyond stock: 2 new 8873's, spare set of those rare 125 uF 500V electrolytics, even a spare power transformer.
I sent the 8873's in to Eimac years ago when they did free testing for hams (there were three 8873's, but one was bad (no wonder!) and they destroyed it for me (thanks Eimac!) ), and I have been a little worried that they returned them in about 20% of the packing material I shipped them in. I feel confident about one of them, and a little nervous about the other because it was right up against the side of the cardboard box in only a pink eggcrate/clamshell pack.
I don't really have time to source a replacement meter switch or work on it, and I would prefer to let it collect additional dust over letting it go for a song because it isn't fully operational.
Anyone out there already own one and like one for spares, or maybe someone who is skilled in servicing them for whom it would be easy to finish the job?
Make some kind of repectable offer in consideration of the value of the two unused tubes (one is installed, but probably would be removed for shipping) and the unused electrolytic set, and I'll probably sell it. We can make a contingency for the condition of the 8873's (whether one or both survived the trip back from Eimac).
