Yes, a manual is expensive to produce, but I seriously doubt that manuals led
to the failure of the company.

Regardless of how many people you are teaching to build something, good
instruction manuals are still required.  And once you have a good one,
reproducing it is inexpensive.

I would say that advances in electronics, assembly methods and integrated
circuits were more to blame for the demise of the company.

Hey maybe a bunch of enterprising Hams should get together and form a "new"
heathkit company...now wouldn't that be interesting???  (could be more fun
than simply remembering the good old days for the rest of our days)
