I ever saw....
The wife worked at Heath in the Wired Instruments Lab back in the 70's. At that
time the company owned a converted home across the road from the plant. In it,
they stocked, all sorts of tech manuals in the former kitchen cabinets (Free for
the taking) In the other rooms they cataloged returned kits, wired components
from the plant and what have you. They would try to hold sales once a month or
so and the deals were great.
I went in on one Sat. and picked out a tester (of some sorts) that had been
returned to the plant. It looked complete so I picked up a manual in the
kitchen and took it home. When I open it up, much to my surprise, the
construction was a toot. Whoever built it, took things like all the components
with long leads, formed the leads over and hooked the component to what ever it
needed to be hooked to. Each component stood 1 1/2" tall, away from the
chassis!!!
I had to desolder each component, and rebuild the kit. My wife and I were in
tears laughing at this construction job.
