Some Heath comments

Hello Green Radio Fans,

The fella who put DX-40 together originally wrapped many extra turns around
the solder lugs. In many cases, he did not shorten the component leads any
at all. He also apparently crimped everything down well. He did rely on a
good mechanical joint. I assume the liguid solder sort of acted as a
sealer to prevent any oxidation. The construction technique was more than
strange, but it did work.
