Hi Ray,
I have been also unable to locate those caps but have found 330uF/450V
readily available from several sources -- including Newark, Allied and my
local radio store. The prices vary from $5 to $15. They about the same
dia. and 1/3 to 1/2 the ht. as the original. Unfortunately they were
designed for PC mount. I used GOOP (wonderful stuff) to glue them to the
existing twistlock mounts. If authenticity is important, the original
black paper covers will slip right over them.
I have recapped three HP23 power supplies with these 330uF caps and they
work well. The big problem is that the 100K/2W bleeders have to be
relocated to a terminal strip. If this is what you are doing, you should
also replace the two series diodes with one 1N5408 or similar (1000V/3A).
The diodes cost about 40cents and well worth it!!
Hope this helps.
