Classic Heathkits

I think each of us has a special rason for remembering and nominating a
particular model as the best/favorite.

Mine was the DX-35 - my first piece of non-homebrew transmitting equipment -
which I built from a kit. What a wonderful experience to have all the parts
BEFORE I started to build a piece of equipment - a prepunched chassis - and a
step-by-step procedure (remember NS2 and S3 telling you when to solder or
not?).

After making sure it worked on crystals, I got a VF-1 VFO kit and added that -
then I could chase DX (California) on 10 meter 'phone! Forget AM 'phone on 20
- I couldn't get heard in "kilowatt alley".

The DX-35 - my introduction to commercial ham transmitters - what a memory!
