Uhhh... The GR-54 was the four-tube superhet. It was an
all-american 5 with a pair of diodes for the rectifier rather than the
usual tube. I had a GR-54 and got my WPE/WDK 50 contries certificate
with that, a 30-foot tall vertical antenna, a homebrewed MOSFET RF amp-
lifier, and a homebrewed Pi-network antenna matcher.
The GR-64 was a much nicer receiver, with an RF stage thrown in.
Some day I would like to have one of each, right next to the GR-94 (?)
that I got later on when I had $$, and the SB-310 that I have now.
