Well, it would be great if Heath were to enter the market once again....even
if it were to build one kit at a time, even with some pre-payment possibly.
With the Internet, sales can be far more tailored, and support can fall to
the users as most software manufacturers do today. All of their development
costs are long gone, and the manual is finished Order parts and go to town.

What kit? Well, I think the kits with tubes, although I owned most of them
and loved them, would be just a little much to put together again (for them
I mean). Something like the HW-9 would be a snap since it was solid state
and on a couple boards. OHR has done it (and a great job too) and I don't
think Heath could keep them in stock for more than a few hours at a time.
It would certainly be the most reasonable kit to build again. And, if no
one has noticed, our country is getting back to doing things with their
hands. Try to count the Home Depot type stores springing up on every corner
and the parts suppliers like Mouser, TechAmerica, and several others. Then
check out the QRP list with over 2000 members....and that's just the ones
with Internet. Yes, folks, it world work, and they would make money.

I, on the other hand, just took delivery of a perfect little HW-9 "KIT" with
WARC set only an hour ago. Am I excited? You'll never know how much so!!
I think I'll just enjoy knowing I'm going to still build one someday. Maybe
I'll save it for my retirement present. It sure helps to already own one
with all the accessories to hold back the urge to warm up the soldering
iron. Check back in a week to see if I could contain myself. (grin) So,
would it pay Heath to do it again, on a selected basis? You bet!!! Would I
buy another one just to prove there's a market for them...here's my order.

73 all...
